Police Shake-Up: Disu Names Ojajuni Ogun CP, Tijani Takes Over in Lagos
The Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Rilwan Disu, has approved a major redeployment of senior officers across key commands, appointing Olabode Ojajuni as Commissioner of Police in Ogun State and Fatai Tijani as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
The postings follow the recent promotion of Lanre Ogunlowo and Olorundare Moshood Jimoh to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), creating vacancies in strategic commands. The redeployment, which takes immediate effect, is part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and boost public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
CP Ojajuni, now in charge of Ogun State Command, is widely regarded as a versatile and experienced officer. He previously served as Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, where he distinguished himself in strategic communication and public engagement. His career trajectory also includes roles as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Bode Thomas, Commander of MOPOL 20, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ogun State. His broad experience in operations, investigations, and public relations is expected to significantly improve policing outcomes in the state.
In Lagos, CP Tijani takes over with an impressive record in both tactical and administrative policing. Before his latest appointment, he served as Commissioner of Police, Eastern Port Command in Rivers State, where he enhanced maritime security and fostered stronger collaboration among security agencies.
Tijani is no stranger to Lagos policing. He earlier served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in the state, where he coordinated responses to major security challenges. As Area Commander of Area C Command, he also contributed to crime reduction and strengthened community policing initiatives.
A former Commander of MOPOL 17 in Akure, Ondo State, Tijani has built a reputation for discipline, strategic leadership, and operational excellence. His experience across tactical units, administrative functions, and diplomatic assignments positions him to effectively manage the complex security landscape of Lagos.
The Inspector-General also approved other key postings nationwide. Eloho Okpoziakpo has been deployed to head the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Lagos, while Yemi John Oyeniyi takes over as Commissioner of Police in Delta State, replacing Aina Adesola, who has been redeployed to the Department of Training and Development (DTD). In the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Sanusi Ahmed has also been appointed as Commissioner of Police.
IGP Disu has charged all affected officers to demonstrate exemplary leadership, uphold the rule of law, and enforce a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline, corruption, and dereliction of duty. He further urged them to adopt proactive, intelligence-led policing strategies to safeguard lives and property across their jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, senior officers within the force have commended the redeployment, describing it as one of the most strategic and well-considered postings in recent times. They expressed confidence that the new appointments would strengthen internal security and enhance the overall effectiveness of policing nationwide.
