A former Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Abiodun Alabi, fdc (Rtd), has been plunged into profound grief following the tragic death of his loyal and trusted Orderly, Inspector Vincent Tolulope, who lost his life in a fatal motor accident on Wednesday, 20 November 2025.
In a heartfelt statement released through his Media Aide, Joshua Uloko, DIG Alabi described the loss as “deeply personal and painfully irreparable.” The accident, which involved Tolulope’s vehicle, claimed his life, leaving colleagues, friends, and the retired DIG himself in shock.
For DIG Alabi, Inspector Tolulope was far more than an orderly. He was a confidant, a trusted companion, and a steadfast supporter through years of service. “Vincent was my right-hand man, my brother in uniform, and a friend whose loyalty knew no bounds,” Alabi said. “Every officer dreams of having someone so dependable, so committed, and so selfless by their side. Losing him is like losing a part of my own family.”
Colleagues remembered Tolulope as a disciplined, humble, and courageous officer whose cheerful demeanor and dedication made him a beacon of reliability within the police force. He had been an integral part of DIG Alabi’s security detail for several years, performing his duties with professionalism that earned him admiration across the force.
The retired DIG also expressed profound sympathy to Tolulope’s family, promising support and praying for divine strength to help them endure the tragic loss. “I can only pray that God grants Vincent eternal peace and provides his loved ones the courage to bear this devastating blow,” Alabi added, visibly emotional.
The tragedy has resonated deeply within the Nigeria Police Force and beyond. Senior officers, friends, and associates of DIG Alabi have extended condolences, describing the loss as shocking and heartrending.
Meanwhile, DIG Alabi has called on all officers to honour the memory of Tolulope by upholding the values of discipline, dedication, and selfless service that defined his life.
“This is a personal and profound loss,” Alabi said. “But the memory of Vincent’s integrity, loyalty, and devotion to duty will remain etched in our hearts forever.”
