The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned a 26-year-old passenger, Miss Comfort Bob Emanson, over alleged unruly conduct aboard an Ibom Air flight, leading to physical assault on crew members and damage to airline property.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Air flight number LANS13 from Uyo to Lagos. According to reports, shortly before take-off at about 10:45 a.m., a flight attendant, Ms. Juliana Edward, politely instructed Miss Emanson to switch off her mobile phone in compliance with standard aviation safety protocols. Despite repeated appeals, including interventions from her co-passenger, the defendant allegedly refused to comply, resulting in heated arguments with the crew.

Witnesses reported that Miss Emanson, visibly angered, refrained from further confrontation until the aircraft landed in Lagos. However, after waiting for other passengers to disembark, she allegedly confronted Ms. Edward again, verbally abusing and physically assaulting her by stepping on her foot and slapping her.
The altercation reportedly escalated when the defendant assaulted another crew member, Ms. Jokpame Sajun, by hitting her in the face with a pair of slippers. In the process, the curtain separating the business and economy sections was torn, and the defendant allegedly seized a fire extinguisher in a threatening manner.

It took the swift intervention of airport security personnel to restrain her and hand her over to the police. Following investigations, she was arraigned on Monday, August 11, 2025, before Magistrate Salami of Magistrate Court 18, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, on a five-count charge bordering on assault, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and malicious damage.
The defendant pleaded not guilty, and the case was adjourned to October 6, 2025, for hearing. She was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of her bail conditions.
