LAGOS, NIGERIA – May 24, 2025 – Renowned cleric, social critic, and advocate for national unity, Prophet Godwin Ikuru, has issued a distress call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Assembly, civil society groups, and the general public, decrying what he describes as a sustained and escalating campaign of harassment, intimidation, and persecution by certain senior police officers.
In an emotional statement, Prophet Ikuru alleged that he has become the target of a systematic effort to silence and destabilize him, naming Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Kamal Yusuf, Barrister Bankole Habitat, and DCP Akin, head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, as key figures in the ongoing ordeal.
According to the prophet, the saga began with a minor incident involving the parking of his personal vehicle on his residential street. Despite complying with police instructions and apologizing for any inconvenience caused, Ikuru claims the matter has since evolved into a personal vendetta, marked by multiple arrests, property seizures, and unrelenting surveillance.
“I am a man of peace,” Prophet Ikuru stated. “But since that incident, Kamal Yusuf has made it his mission to pursue me across departments. My cook, driver, and even my brother-in-law have been arrested. My vehicles and personal property have been confiscated without formal charges. This is no longer an investigation—this is persecution.”
He further revealed that his residence has been raided, his privacy violated, and his mental well-being deeply impacted by the relentless pressure. He asserts that his only ‘offence’ is being a vocal advocate for justice and truth.
Despite his contributions to the promotion of peace and political stability in Nigeria, including public support for the current administration, Prophet Ikuru says he now feels abandoned and unsafe in his own country.
“I stood for this nation. I prophesied the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and used my platform to promote national unity. Yet today, I am being hunted like a criminal,” he said.

Nigerian youth and the Niger Delta community
to speak out against what he perceives as a grave injustice and threat to personal liberty and due process.
“If this can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. I am raising my voice now. If anything happens to me, let it be known—I cried out and begged for help.”
As of the time of this release, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official response to the allegations, and the officers named have not made public statements.
