Yahaya Abdulkarim Model Primary School , Sokoto Alumni Association, has reiterated commitment to give back to its alma mater through shared value and collective responsibility.
The Chief of Defense Staff ( CDS) General Christopher Musa who is 1980 set of the school made the pledge at the occasion of golden Jubilee of the school during the weekend..
Musa said the alumni would ensure that shared opportunities and experiences once cherished were passed down to future generations.
He noted that the connection that bound them to their alma mater extended beyond their student years.
The CDS further explained that education is the bedrock of every society hence the need to invest in it.
He maintained that teachers should be well taken care of to enable them giving their best in the business of training students for future development.
He implored well to do individuals to think how to give back to the society saying the boy of today will be a man of tomorrow.
” Here today I came as a general but once a boy in this school, this is a lesson for every student here today, as you are in this school as nobody today , when you work hard you will become somebody tomorrow he added.
He further stated that him and other alumni of the school would continue support the school in terms of provision infrastructures to the school.
In his remark the president of the Alumni Eng. Abdullahi Jimoh Aina thanked CDS for his immense contribution to the development of the school.
Aina disclosed that the contribution of CDS has led to the renovation of the school which gave it a facelift.
He noted that it is a thing of joy for them to reunite again after so many years of missing themselves.
In his address the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr Ahmed Aliyu has restated the commitment of his administration to improve the capacity of teachers in the state through regular training and re-training.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy Eng Muhammad Gobir said the measure was necessary in order to provide quality education in the state.
“Training and retraining of teachers is part of our commitment to successfully achieve the desired objective in education in the state.
Aliyu said the state government would continue to give priority attention to the education sector to ensure effective teaching/ learning in the schools.
“So with the attention given to teachers welfare, quality and commitment will surely improve the standard of our learning environment in the state.
He further stated that in the State education is free from primary to secondary education irrespective of state of origin or religion.
The highlight of the event is the entertainment of the guest by the Troup from different ethnic group.
