In a major political shift in Benue State, the APA PDP Youth Forum, under the coordination of Paul Ochoche Benjamin, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The group will now be known as the APA ADC Youth Forum, marking a fresh chapter in its political journey.
The official declaration was made in a statement endorsed by key leaders of the group and announced by the forum’s pro tem Publicity Secretary, Onehi Johnson Aboje.
Aboje cited internal crises and unresolved leadership tussles within the PDP as key reasons for the mass exit. “Our decision follows careful deliberation and is a response to the protracted internal wrangling and leadership vacuum that have weakened the PDP’s structure and effectiveness,” he explained. “Joining the ADC reflects our dedication to purposeful leadership, grassroots empowerment, and political progress.”
The APA ADC Youth Forum prides itself on a strong grassroots network, with organized leadership in all eleven wards of Apa Local Government Area. The group also noted its longstanding collaboration with its counterpart in Agatu LGA, a synergy that contributed to the electoral success of Hon. Ojotu Ojema and Senator Abba Moro.
Looking ahead, the forum’s leadership expressed confidence that the ADC offers a more credible, youth-driven, and people-focused political platform. “We are confident that the ADC aligns with our values and will better enable us to serve our people and build a future rooted in integrity, accountability, and inclusion,” the statement added.
The forum urged all its members and supporters to remain steadfast, united, and committed as they embrace this new political direction with renewed zeal under the ADC umbrella.
