The American Chemical Society (ACS) Nigeria International Chemical Sciences Chapter has commemorated its 10th anniversary with a symposium themed “Advancing Sustainability through AI-Driven Chemistry.”
The four-day event, held at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Abuja, brought together leading scientists, policymakers, and innovators to explore the transformative role of artificial intelligence in shaping a sustainable future through chemistry.
In her welcome address, Prof. Edu J. Inam, Chairman of ACS Nigeria, reflected on the chapter’s milestone achievements over the past decade, emphasizing the timeliness of this year’s theme and the potential of AI-driven chemistry to address pressing global challenges.
The symposium featured keynote lectures, presentations, and discussions on various topics, including the intersection of AI and chemistry, and the role of innovation in driving sustainable development.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, who announced the Federal Government’s program to train 200,000 Nigerians in AI and emerging technologies.
The event marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s scientific journey, showcasing the potential of AI-driven chemistry to drive sustainable innovation and societal benefit.
